Cheering

The Winchester Pop Warner Cheerleaders took to the field for the annual Winchester-Woburn Thanksgiving Day football game. The Winchester High School Cheer Team extended the Turkey Day invitation to the Pop Warner cheer team and they readily accepted. Following a meet and greet, the Pop Warner girls were given a run through of cheers and proudly marched in the annual Sachem parade through town before accompanying their high school cheering mentors to the field. Excitement peaked as they cheered the first half and stunted with the WHS Cheer Team and despite the final score of the game, the Pop Warner Cheer Team was thankful for a chance of a lifetime!

Dreams came true for the Winchester Pop Warner cheerleaders this weekend. They were invited to take part in Boston College’s annual Spirit Day at the Boston College Chestnut Hill Campus. Cheerleaders from all over Massachusetts descended onto the field for some time with the talented BC cheerleading squad and Winchester was proudly represented by many of their own.

After a meet and greet, the Pop Warner girls were given a run through of BC cheers and marched in the Eagle Parade before lining the walkway to high five the BC Eagles football players and their coaches as they took to the field for a game against UMass. Excitement ran high as the Pop Warner girls took to their VIP seating, were treated to lunch, and were even captured on the big screen mimicking their BC cheering mentors. Outfitted in their Pop Warner Spirit tees, the girls mingled with the BC eagle mascot and marveled at their mentors on the field.

“I can’t wait to be a BC cheerleader,” exclaimed one of the girls. The sentiment was shared by all!

The BC cheerleaders highlighted the importance of athleticism and hard work to succeed. The positive impact cheering has on young girls is undeniable. The girls were able to see that to partake in cheering at the highest college level requires a multitude of talents, including athleticism and strong academic credentials. Being part of such a large event created wonderfully positive memories and for this bunch of Pop Warner cheerleaders.

OUR GOAL:
Winchester Pop Warner cheer program is designed to inspire youth through teaching dedication, team work, friendship, leadership and good sportsmanship. We encourage all of our girls to meet each new task with a “can do attitude”, and to believe and trust in themselves as well as each other. It is our goal to teach them to support one another and to encourage their team mates through positive reinforcement and mutual respect for their team, their coaches, and WPW. We hope to develop in every child a feeling of accomplishment and success in a fun-filled atmosphere. Participating in Winchester Pop Warner Cheerleading provides children the unique opportunity to perform in an organized, supervised, safety-oriented and fun environment.

OUR PHILOSOPHY:
Winchester Pop Warner strives to make cheerleading a fun, learning experience with lessons that follow them far beyond the spirit of cheering. Each squad is designed to work as a team representing fellow football teams at games and demonstrate their athletic abilities on the field and at competitions. Coaches and volunteers are dedicated individuals who enjoy working with and teaching these young girls while embracing Pop Warners National Philosophy of “Academics and Athletics go hand-in-hand”.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
We are very proud of our 2010 inaugural season cheerleaders. They all cheered with spirit and enthusiasm. We hope to have you back in 2011!
